Not Only God With Us… But God In Us!
There is another part of the story that we forget about in John 14. Jesus knew that the night before Passover would be his last night on earth before leaving this world to return to the Father’s side. He wanted to assure his disciples that He was not leaving them or abandoning them, so He told them not to be overtaken with fear.
16–17 And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Savior, the Holy Spirit of Truth, who will be to you a friend just like me—and he will never leave you. The world won’t receive him because they can’t see him or know him. But you know him intimately because he remains with you and will live inside you.
18 “I promise that I will never leave you helpless or abandon you as orphans—I will come back to you! 19 Soon I will leave this world and they will see me no longer, but you will see me, because I will live again, and you will come alive too. 20 So when that day comes, you will know that I am living in the Father and that you are one with me, for I will be living in you” (John 14:16-20 TPT).
The Kingdom of God is Within You
We have to remember that God is spirit and a spirit (or ghost) is invisible. In the Old Testament only a few men and women had encounters with God, either in a dream or when the Spirit of the Lord came upon them. But in the New Testament after Jesus came, He connected us to God again (like in the beginning of creation), so all of us could have instant access to God 24/7. This was a spirit-to-spirit connection, like a modem connects different computers on a network, so you can all have access to files on the same drive through a remote connection. Jesus was saying that just because I am not physically present in bodily form, does not mean I am not there with you or available. He said in John 14 that the world will not see Me but you will. Why? Because He will be living IN us! We are the new Temple of God and He lives IN us (1 Corinthians 3:16). Remember, Jesus told us the kingdom of God is within you in Luke 17:21? It is a spiritual kingdom, not a physical kingdom, where He rules and reigns over our heart and mind.
We are His new place of residence! Because we have invited Jesus to come live in our heart, He moves in and lives with our spirit, inside our body, which is our house or housing. Everything that you see, He sees. Everything that you do, He does. Everywhere you go, He goes… because you two have “tied the knot” and said, “I do! Yes, I want to be One with Christ.” That was Jesus last prayer before He ascended, that the Father would make us One.
John 17
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gave me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one.
Jesus, Our King of Hearts!
He is our King of Hearts and we are head-over-heels about Him! We worship the ground He walks on. I love what Jesus said in John 14:15 “Loving me empowers you to obey my commands.” We can’t make our Self follow the Spirit and not the Flesh by willpower or mind-over-matter, it is only by falling in love with Him… and Love will make you do anything! People will do anything for love. Love is the greatest power on earth… because God is Love!
If you are struggling with anything today, let His Love conquer your heart and bring peace to your soul (your mind, will, and emotions). He is HERE and came to heal the broken-hearted and set the captive soul free! He came to make you completely whole/sound/complete, not broke or broken, with nothing missing or lacking. One word from Him is totally transformational, and will melt you in your shoes. He is not concerned about what you “do” for Him, He just wants “you!” He wants “you,” not “things!” He chose us to be His Bride because He loves us and wants to spend time with us. He gave you the Best Gift He could give you…Himself! Give Him your Best Gift…You! All He wants is you, to live your life with you, and share every day together. He will be your BFF, you best friend for life, like Abraham and Moses. Will you give Him your heart today? Just Say YES!
“Ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened unto you. For everyone who asks receives, everyone who seeks finds, and to everyone who knocks the door opens.” (Matthew 7:7-8)
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
O come, O come, Emmanuel,
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here,
Until the Son of God appear.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny;
From depths of hell Thy people save,
And give them victory o’er the grave.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.
Never Fear… God is Here!
