As we look back at the terrible destruction of the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 in Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, our hearts will always remember the innocent victims whose lives were taken out by inhumane terrorists. Most recently the lives of two innocent teachers and two students at Apalachee High School in Georgia, who were snuffed out by someone seeking their own agenda. There are many other schools that have also been threatened or suffered loss by the hands of a lawless vigilante.
This year we celebrated Yom Kippur on September 24-25. It is known as The Day of Atonement, and is considered the holiest day of the year. It is a day to fast and pray, repent of our sins and ask forgiveness from God and our brethren. I felt God’s Spirit prompt me to fast and pray as well. In my prayer time I heard the Spirit say, “I want you to repent of pride for yourself and for the Church.”
Proverbs 6:16-19 (AMP) says, “Six things the Lord hates; seven are a repulsive abomination unto him: 1) A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], 2) a lying tongue, 3) hands that shed innocent blood, 4) a heart that creates wicked plans and schemes, 5) feet that run swiftly to evil, 6) a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and 7) one who spreads discord (rumors) among the brothers.”

As I was thinking about the Christmas carol “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” it was just jumping off the page to me that Jesus is Here… with us! So many of us have it in our minds that Jesus came and left; He came as a baby, then left after He arose from the grave and He ascended up into the heavens. 19 “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19). When I awoke this morning the Spirit asked, “How many days until the elections?” I quickly counted up the days and found it was 21 days! I immediately knew I needed to fast and pray. Like Daniel prayed and fasted 21 days and God answered his prayer even though the answer was delayed, we too need to be fervent in prayer about these upcoming elections. The Bible says, the prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16). The Bible also says, “If two of you agree concerning anything in my name, that it shall be done! (Matthew 18:19)”
“Where there is no vision, people perish” Proverbs 29:18
Don’t forget to make your spiritual goals for this year as well. Write your vision down and make it plain (Habakkuk 2:2). Without Vision people perish. Vision is your destination where you are going. You have to know where you are going before you can get there! Get God’s vision for your life. God told Joshua to keep his Word as frontlets before his eyes. That would would make his way prosperous and successful (Joshua 1:8-9). That is also the same formula that we use to build our life. Keep God’s Word before your eyes so you can do all that is written in it… then you will make your way prosperous and successful! Keep going and don’t quit… and you will get there. You can do it!
